Paul Bert Serpette, the “star” market of the Puces de Saint Ouen flea market is collaborating with designer Odile Decq to create an original exhibition in the Galerie des Puces, for Paris Design Week.
The architect, known for her love of colours – red and black – has chosen to create a “Carte Noire” with a selection of around one hundred pieces of furniture, objects, works of art, incongruous pieces and bargain vintage clothes among the 400 antique dealers in the market. The result for the exhibition is the creation of a habitat, a multi-functional living room, where very beautiful pieces of design from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, by Pierre Paulin, Knoll, Joe Colombo, Arne Jacobsen, Rietvelt, Gille Derain and Strafort will make up an individual world alongside an 18th century flemish painting and lithographies by Gunter Frutrunk (1970), a stuffed crow, the propeller from a boat, and also a kimono, a guitar, a mask, a pair of men’s shoes…
Paul Bert Serpette has seen a wide clientele of enthusiastic Parisians, collectors from America, Asia, Russia, the Middle East, professionals from the world of art and bargain hunters in search of marvels – this place has become more unifying than ever.
