Wild and wonderful Baghvan Lodge in Pench National Park, India

Baghvan is aptly named after an iconic Indian symbol, the Bengal tiger (bagh – tiger, van – forest). This charming lodge is situated on the edge of Pench National Park and the heart of the Indian jungle is only a short ten-minute drive from the lodge.

With 12 enchanting detached suites located alongside a picturesque nullah (dry riverbed), the luxury lodges are surrounded by the shaded canopies of beautiful forest trees. With cool pale-cream cement screed floors that contrast perfectly with the hues of copper and pale turquoise, each suite has a spacious and calming ambiance. The stairs lead up to the alluring machan (a covered jungle rooftop terrace) complete with mosquito net, overhead fan and hookah pipes, giving an idyllic and romantic spot to peruse the jungle by day and night, as well as being an unforgettable sleep-out.

The suites at the luxury lodge also boast delicate Parsi tiles, woven hyacinth furniture, high ceilings, deep welcoming sofas and giant ebony chests.

Foodies will happy as you can feast on delicious cuisine on the sweeping shaded deck that surrounds the inviting pool and overlooks the nullah – a favourite spot for the Pench tigers. At sunset you can indulge in cocktails under a huge Banyan tree whilst watching a giant flying squirrel perform breath-taking aerobatics.

The activities on offer at the luxury Safari lodge are vast and varied. You can take advantage of jungle safaris, elephant safaris, guided nature walks, cultural walks and bird-watching.
