What makes the perfect place to eat in Hong Kong?
The Continental restaurant opened its doors to its first customers in Pacific Place, Hong Kong this month. The highly anticipated restaurant is the product of a collaboration between Rowley Leigh, David Collins Studio and Swire Hotels.
Rowley Leigh, British chef, restauranteur and journalist is the chief consultant of The Continental, Hong Kong, the flagship stand-alone restaurant owned and managed by the newly established division of Swire Hotels.
The Continental at Pacific Place has had its interiors created by David Collins Studio, the team behind The Wolseley and The Delaunay in London and Scarpetta in Miami. And Brian Williams is managing director of Swire Hotels, a group which has opened the award-winning The Upper House in Hong Kong and The Opposite House in Beijing
The Continental’s menu draws its inspiration from the grand cafés of Europe and will feature a variety of European classic dishes from breakfast through lunch and dinner to late night drinks and snacks. “I was brought up with a French style incorporating other elements into recipes where I’d take one out and put something else in. It’s a lot French, a little Italian and an British sensibility. Everything to the best ingredients and I just try to do justice to them,” said Chef Leigh.
An exclusive video was filmed at Le Café Anglais where Simon Rawlings (creative director from David Collins Studios), Rowley Leigh and Brian Williams (managing director of Swire Hotels) discussed the ingredients they believe go into making a restaurant a great place to eat. It’s a revealing insight into the details that make brilliant restaurants tick – from three men in the business who really know.
