Following a multi-million dollar investment, Thompson Miami Beach owners say the hotel offers a diverse and engaging collection of hospitality, dining and nightlife. The upscale hotel, which opened this weekend hopes to ‘inspire and engage guests in authentic local experiences’.
Located on Collins Avenue between 40th and 41st streets in the Mid-Beach district, which is fast becoming one of the most desirable neighbourhoods on Miami Beach attracting a sophisticated crowd after the high energy of South Beach but within more refined surroundings.
Just 20 minutes from Miami International Airport and 45 minutes from Fort Lauderdale International Airport, Thompson Miami Beach is surrounded by the city’s best nightlife spots and restaurants, as well as cultural, entertainment and shopping attractions. The hotel is also opposite the Julia Tuttle Causeway with direct access across the Biscayne Bay to the Wynwood neighbourhood, known for its street art and galleries, as well as the adjacent Design District. This area is also home to the newly opened Pérez Art Museum Miami and renowned collections and exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).
The Miami Beach hotel boasts 380 guestrooms, including 30 suites, and design takes inspiration from the building’s 1950s heritage alongside original Art Deco features. UK-based designer Martin Brundnizki, in collaboration with Kobi Karp Architects, has created a beach-inspired casual glamour in line with the hotel’s aim to create a ‘Mid-Century vision for the 21st-century’.
Highlights at the hotel include a tenth floor rooftop spa set within tranquil gardens and soothing water features, with views over the glittering Miami Beach skyline. And Miami-born chef and James Beard Foundation (akin to a Michelin star) award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein will open a Florida style brasserie ‘Seagrape’, with another star US chef to be announced early next year assigned to the second restaurant.
