Luxury ski resort L’Apogée Courchevel opens in French Alps
L’Apogée Courchevel, a five-star luxury ski resort opened in the French Alps this month. Located in the upmarket Jardin Alpin area of Courchevel 1850, the resort boasts some of the finest views and access to the Three Valleys ski area.
Located at the very top of the former Olympic ski jump, the 55 bedroom L’Apogée comes complete with a four bedroom penthouse covering the entire top floor of the hotel, an exclusive five bedroom chalet, a Sisley spa with large mosaic pool and a superb kids’ club with an igloo at the centerpiece. The spectacular restaurant and two bars by two Michelin starred chef Yannick Franques include a Fromagerie as well as a ham aging cellar.
The luxury French ski resort has been designed with chic individualism by architect-designers Joseph Dirand and India Mahdavi. Both are known for giving their projects a unique sense of style and soul and L’Apogée’s minimalism combined with warmth is an elegant triumph. Their roles on the project entirely complement one another – Joseph has created the style for the public spaces in the hotel and India the rooms and suites. Their combined approach merges two very different styles – India’s maximalist, colourful and more feminine and Joseph’s more architectural and more toned down.
Both designer’s inspirations of fashion, travel and a rhythmic approach to creativity are inherent throughout. The aim was to create a family château or a Swiss or Tyrolian manor house rather than a traditional hotel environment. A place with a warm, cosy environment to complement a day out on the slopes. The public areas are therefore less formal than many hotels – there is an entrance lobby that is more like a private house and a small lounge adjacent to it
