Draw inspiration from luxury New York hotel The Surrey

For those looking to discover their artistic flair this summer, check into one of New York’s most luxurious Upper East Side hotels – The Surrey, and join their new weekly art classes on the hotel’s beautiful roof-terrace.

Taking place on Saturdays throughout the summer, anyone staying at The Surrey can wander the luxury hotel taking inspiration from the incredible 31 piece contemporary art collection including an iconic Chuck Close canvas of Kate Moss.

Classes will take place on the 17th floor roof-terrace with magnificent views of the Manhattan sky-line and Central Park, each lesson will also have a real life model attending for guests to work on their portrait sketching as well as landscape scenes. A New York Academy of Art alumni, Anna LaFond, will guide you through the hour-long session encouraging traditional as well as experimental techniques. Each class is suitable for all levels, from absolute beginners to established artists looking to expand their skills. Children aged 6+ are also encouraged to join the classes at a reduced rate, the perfect way for creative families to spend an artistic morning together.

The only hotel member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux group in New York City, The Surrey’s comfortable interiors, created by award-winning designer Lauren Rottet,  define that inimitable sense of New York style.
