Following successful collaborations with Decode and Royal Selangor, international multi-disciplinary design practice VW+BS has unveiled two new designs for Singapore-based design label Industry+ at designjunction this September, as part of the London Design Festival.
Industry+ have created a collection of products at the crossroads of utilitarian design and artisanal craftmanship using experimental production techniques. This approach created a cohesive ensemble of highly collectable and functional products. Although the pieces are on the boundary of being collectable art, Industry+ produce their range in quantity and at an attainable price, making the narrative of the brand an intriguing concept whereby customers are purchasing a unique piece without the usual high-priced ticket.
VW+BS were also asked to design the stand for Industry+’s inaugural presentation at the London Design Festival, which will showcase not only VW+BS’s designs but also the full range of products in the Singaporean brand’s debut collection.
The clover stool by VW+BS for Industry+ is designed to reflect the clarity of Chinese peasant furniture that fulfils basic requirements for form and function, resulting in a seating design that is both simple and beautiful. The stool is formed from solid oak with aluminium cast fasteners, comes flat-packed and is available in a range of colours.
VW+BS took inspiration from the petals of a flower to create a series of two pendant lights: Trellis has a translucent veneer shade while Corolla has an expanded metal shade, which when viewed at certain angles creates a moiré-like effect.
