Youthful architectural design at the Youth Centre project, Shanghai, China

Shanghai-based architectural practice Atelier Deshaus have completed another design gem – the Youth Centre project. Completed in 2013 the Youth Centre can be found in Qingpu, Shanghai, China.

The theme of the Youth Centre project was based on an idea that the principle of adapting adjacent urban scales, a small inner public space of human scale will be created in order to reconstruct the memory of traditional towns capes.

According to the architects: “As we understand the nature of Teenager’s Center, the whole project was divided into a series of small individual functional spaces which were utilised by various types of open spaces such as courtyard, plaza and lane. The children’s adventure was encouraged by the environment. We hope that they would experience country life like living in a small town, such as numerous possibilities of destination, wandering and meeting the unexpected. In another word, we have created a place of social interaction and human care for the teenagers.”

The interior design of the project is minimal. The property benefits from large windows and the majority of the rooms benefit from natural light. Adelto loves the contemporary dangling lights in the main room.
