Wow-factor Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort, Thailand

Postcard-perfect beaches with crystal seas, awe-inspiring sunsets–Koh Samui may be a well trodden path since backpackers first discovered its riches over 40 years ago–but the island is fast becoming a ‘must do’ for those looking for luxury rather than a beach hut with friends.

Unlike most of Koh Samui’s five-star resorts, Baan Taling Ngam has been designed in a ‘classic Thai’ theme. The resort is located on the unspoiled south-west ‘Virgin Coast’ of the island, populated with fishing villages and secluded bays the hotel was the first luxury hotel to open on the island.

Set on a lush tropical estate, your arrival to this slice of paradise begins as you alight from the hotel’s speed boat onto the private  jetty (this is the only hotel on Koh Samui to boast its own private jetty).  As you enter the lobby, the views are guaranteed to take your breath away; a panorama of the famed ‘Five Islands’ that will become your personal playground for your stay and a view that will stay with you forever. The luxury Thai resort offers seven swimming pools, each with a unique design, two tennis courts, water sports centre and a yoga deck.  You can choose to dine at one of the resorts two exquisite restaurants, opt for in-villa dining or even a unique candlelit meal on the private pier, which stretches diagonally into the ocean.

There are only 79 guest-residences and each boasts a private balcony, expansive bathroom with soaking tub and waterfall shower and is adorned with unique ‘pops’ of colour adding a contemporary edge to the resort’s strong Thai heritage.

Don’t forget to visit the award-winning cliff top Baan Thai Spa, which is raised 120 meters above sea level and offers 46 different  contemporary and traditional treatments which draw on indigenous plants and herbs and ancient healing philosophies – total bliss!
