Vila Castela Residence by Anastasia Architects

Anastasia Architects designed the contemporary Vila Castela Residence in Nova Lima, Brazil.

Deep in the city of Nova Lima, Brazil, the Vila Castela residence is built on a 30 degrees sloped site, accentuating its unique, modern and quirky architecture. The extreme position of the house emphasises the contemporary feel that the architects aimed to convey. This also maintains a natural feel to the house, having been built on a garden-like site.

Complete with a beautiful view of the woods, this residence encapsulates a feeling of privacy for its owners, whilst allowing for a meander into the public eye; the house being built below the street it’s situated on. The exterior is a luxurious, affluent aspect of the house, and the natural garden and sky forms a perfect backdrop to a sumptuous image. Solar cells are also placed on the roof, making the house both lavish and efficient – a perfect combination.

The interior of the house continues the feel, with a 650 square metre area stretched over three levels. The basement level boasts facilities such as a sauna, a Jacuzzi, and a wine cellar; the ground floor is thrust into the limelight with the living area and kitchen integrated with the outdoor terrace and swimming pool. The first floor houses the bedrooms, allowing the owners privacy when desired.

This project was based on four main concepts: little interference in the site, better use of natural resources, integration to the surroundings, and a generous urban presence, and the architects have clearly hit their brief perfectly.
