The luxury Santa Ponsa Villa, Mallorca

Manchester-based interior design practice Curve have completed the refurbishment of the Santa Ponsa Villa project. Completed in 2012, this beautiful family home can be found in Santa Ponsa on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

The traditional Spanish style finca was converted and modernised, bringing together 50 brands from 12 different countries to create a contemporary space with an air of English glamour.

Curve were involved from the initial design and planning process to maximise the use of the space for the family and their three children, plus accommodate visitors from the UK. The brief was then to decorate and furnish the entire of the new house, plus the guest apartment and outdoor areas.

The interior design of the property includes finishes such as the pale stone flooring, and painted walls to create a soft and airy look. The client wished to step away from the super modern feel of their previous villa and have a warmer and more classic environment throughout.

This was achieved in the main living areas with a neutral palette layering greys, whites, taupes and silver with different textures to create a subtle drama and all year round comfort.

The division into the dining area is provided by a stunning central fireplace, and this area has a large wooden table and chairs for sociable dining.

In the adjoining music room colours were taken much darker with the introduction of textured wallpaper, black leather, a large shaggy rug and the elegant gloss of the grand piano.

Sharing a love of boats with the client, the design scheme for the master bedroom has a nautical feel and is inspired by the finishes found in the cabins of superyachts. The large custom made bed was designed by Curve and manufactured in Manchester. Embellished wallpaper and the introduction of metallics add to the overall luxury feel of the space.

The children became individually involved with their own spaces and all the fitted furniture was designed and developed by Curve. The rooms took on their own personality as we added bright colours and funky chairs, lighting, headboards and storage solutions.

In the guest apartment the design steps back towards a more modern scheme, furnished with a range of stylish yet practical furniture and finished in a black, cream and taupe palette with shots of amber added in the accessories.

The exterior areas of the project include super relaxing pool side furniture, a bar and bbq area, outdoor lounge and our favourite part of all, the amazing treehouse and zip slide.
