Luxury Meatpacking duplex by John Beckmann of Axis Mundi

This luxury Manhattan duplex in New York’s trendy Meatpacking District belongs to Dr Neal Blitz, a leading authority on foot surgery in the city. The luxury home was designed by New York-based architect John Beckmann of Axis Mundi.

Architectural practice Axis Mundi was in-charge of a complete gut renovation of this one-bedroom duplex (715 sq. ft) in the Meatpacking district. One of the outstanding features of the space is the dramatic arched window which floods the space with plenty of natural light.

The space was reconfigured, a new kitchen and powder room was designed, new zebrano plank flooring was installed on both levels. The firm designed a custom folded and cantilevered steel staircase which leads to the upper level. A sandblasted glass railing preserves privacy yet allows light to filter into the upper bedroom level. On the upper level the entire façade of the master bathroom is sandblasted glass, which we love.

The interior design is completely chic and contemporary. Various furniture brands have been used to bring the luxury New York apartment together. The Egg Chair is designed by Arne Jacobsen from Fritz Handen, the glass coffee table is from Ligne Roset and the stunning walnut bar stools have been designed by Norman Cherner. In the bedroom the luxury bed has been styled with pillows and throw from Italian brand Missoni. We love the use of the color blue on the wall behind the bed.
