Hamptons Beach House with views of the Atlantic Ocean

Cambridge-based architectural practice, Aamodt Plumb Architects, have designed the Hamptons Beach House project.  The luxury home features ornamental screenz and is located in East Quogue, New York, US.

According to the architects: “Located on a barrier island with exposures to the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Shinnecock Bay on the other, the luxury New York property is long and thin with neighbours close by on either side. The interior design responds to the narrow site by opening up with large expanses of glass to views on the north and south while shielding views of the nearby houses.

“We worked closely with the graphic designers at TwoPoints.net and Constructing Communication in Barcelona to develop an original pattern based that was both abstract and figurative. The pattern then had to be scaled to work with the dimensions of the 1/2” aluminum. There could be no islands in the pattern that would fall out when cut and there could be no openings larger than a 2×4 so the screens could also protect the windows from airborne projectiles in a hurricane.”
