Contemporary Casa Ramas, Spain

Madrid-based design studio FH2L Arquitecturos have designed Casa Ramas. Finished in 2008, this three-storey contemporary property is located in Cotos de Monterrey, Venturada, Madrid, Spain.

According to the architects: “The house is located at the edge of a private housing community that has one of the best views of the Guadarrama Mountain range.

“The contemporary Spanish property has geometry, which has two main objectives, one is to open itself to the private garden and to the mountain views, benefiting from the best orientation and sunlight for each bedroom; and the second one is to turn itself into a resounding volume, almost opaque, that becomes a reference for anyone observing the house from the entrance.

“The combination of these two ideas converts the building into a contemporary Spanish house, flexible and adapted to its surroundings.

“Entrance and car access to the plot are from the north, running in parallel and separated by a stone wall.

The luminous and transparent entrance hall divides the ground floor into two main areas, forming a traditional ‘L type’ property. On one side you have the day area, with the open-plan kitchen, dinning and living room, with double orientation to the sun and the views. On the other side, orientated to the south, the bedrooms and bathrooms, as a separate volume and closing the pool yard.”  Images courtesy of FH2L Arquitectos.
