Restaurant set in a 150 year old Seychelles’ plantation house
The historic Grann Kaz restaurant in the Seychelles is set in an historic plantation house, over 150 years old.
Seychelles has inspired many people throughout the years. A favourite haunt of James Bond creator Ian Fleming, Seychelles in the exotic Indian Ocean is a paradise island, and this is where you can find the historic Grann Kaz Restaurant.
Secreted within the luxury island of Silhouette and set against the dramatic slopes of Mount Dauban, overlooking the Indian Ocean, Grann Kaz is the restored home of the Dauban family, the original owners of this beautiful island. The house was lovingly renovated using fallen Takamaka wood, which grows naturally on the island, before being converted into a restaurant steeped in history.
The menu focuses on local and regional produce in addition to seasonal native flora such as Breadfruit and Vanilla to conjure a sublime fusion of flavours. Resident fisherman deliver their catch of the day to chef Heshan Peiris, who combines traditional ingredients with modern skills.
You can now experience this authentic menu whilst enjoying the timeless character of Grann Kaz, surrounded by colourful creole art and artifacts. You can also learn about the art of cooking creole cuisine playing with flavour combinations, colours and textures at the weekly cooking class, Island Kitchen, at Grann Kaz.
Grann Kaz and Island Kitchen are located at the Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, Silhouette Island, PO Box 69, Mahe, 00000, Seychelles, hilton.com
