Pobble House: A modern British home on Dungeness Estate

London-based architectural practice, Guy Hollaway Architects, has designed the Pobbles House project. Completed in 2013, the contemporary family home is located in Ashford, Kent, England.

According to the architects: “Pobble House takes its name from an old Kentish word for pebble and is located within the Dungeness Estate, a stark and open headland on the Kent & Sussex coast that is home to Europe’s largest expanse of shingle, classifying it as Britain’s only desert.

“The area is home to a vast array of wildlife and plant species, including many species of insects and coastal/migratory birds that cannot be found anywhere else in the UK. As a result of this the area is a recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), National Nature Reserve, Conservation Area and Special landscape Area.”
