Modern eco-chic apartments unveiled in Islington, London
Up-and-coming designer Kelly Parfitt of Birdy Design has designed a show home at for sustainable property developer Igloo. Completed in 2015, the contemporary homes are located at Four Hundred Caledonian Road in Islington, London, England.
Kelly Parfitt has incorporated locally sourced pieces, including bespoke furniture made on Brick Lane into her interior design.
The show home features re-upholstered 1950s Danish armchairs in the living space to provide a contemporary take on retro classics, while a base palette of chalky whites and neutrals helps to emphasise the on-trend geometric patterns in the soft furnishings and accessories. A hanging bicycle from critically acclaimed Foffa Bikes completes the look.
Situated on a lively stretch of the historic ‘Cally’ road, Four Hundred Caledonian Road comprises a total of 23 contemporary low energy apartments, a pair of town houses and three commercial studios, centered around two intimate courtyards.
Each of the contemporary London homes has its own outdoor space, with large balconies and secure cycle storage for residents. Internally, features include efficient underfloor heating, sustainably sourced bamboo flooring, integrated A-rated Bosch appliances in the kitchens and high quality sustainability manufactured Quartz work-tops.
Positioned between the recently transformed area of King’s Cross and the ever sought-after Islington, the Caledonian Road is an effervescent ribbon of activity that caters for all tastes. Transport connections are superb; Caledonian Road underground station is a short walk away, while The London Overground Line at Caledonian Road & Barnsbury Station, which is directly adjacent to Four Hundred, connects with Richmond, Camden, Hampstead, Dalston, Hackney and Shoreditch.
