Luxury interior design at Avenue Marina, South Africa

South African interior designers Antoni Associates have completed the Avenue Marina 3 project. Situated on the slopes of Lion’s Head above Bantry Bay, in South Africa this home enjoys panoramic views across the bay and overlooks Sea Point and Robben Island.

According to the interior designers: “The luxury South African house is built on three levels and is geared for entertaining on a grand scale. The lower level accesses the garden and the upper two levels have extensive covered and open terraces. The interior design studio was appointed to create an environment that evoked the feeling of luxury Zen styling and that of Asian spa resorts. Part of the brief was to re-design the entire lower floor into a private spa and entertainment level. The existing swimming pool was demolished and a new 30m resort style pool was installed, with an infinity edge. A twin treatment/massage room was incorporated into the spa area together with a well-equipped high-tech gym and sauna/steam treatment rooms. A wine cellar and cinema room were also incorporated on this lower level.

The brief for the furniture and decor was to create luxuriously appointed contemporary interiors with a global fusion/eclectic mix of Asian artefacts and traditional European elements. The clients are very well travelled, particularly in Asia and therefore wanted
their home to reflect their experiences with an eclectic Asian theme. Specific pieces in tactile materials and fabrics were custom designed. Colourful silks, patterned fabrics and wallpapers add texture and accent. The sumptuously appointed master bedroom suite is supplemented by five additional guest bedrooms. Each room was individually designed and has a distinct identity and colour palette.

This contemporary Cape Town property has a distinct sense of balance; there is a feeling of rhythm and spiritual integrity. This has been captured in the considered articulation of the spaces, as well as the combination of selected bespoke and custom pieces.
