Luxury house in Valle de Morna, Ibiza

Dublin-based interior designers and architects Blacam and Meagher Architects have completed the Morna Valley house project. Completed in 20122, the stunning luxury home can be found in Morna Valley, on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

According to the architects: “The luxury property is located on a south facing hillside of  Morna Valley, in the center of the island of Ibiza. This property also has a number of small residential annexes.

“The plot was terraced for agricultural use from ancient terraces contained by local stone walls and dotted with vegetation where the pines stand as the dominant element. The luxury Spanish property was placed in the largest terrace.

“The facade of the contemporary home is lined with concrete blocks, this is a traditional method on the island. Concrete block walls, revoltones ceramic, stone flooring and local limestone exteriors result as the major construction elements. All the fixtures and fittings including the furniture, lighting and landscaping were designed by the architect.

“While the double-height porch extends the living-dining areas its dominates the composition, the lowest elements houses the bedrooms – bathroom, patio and outdoor shower all enjoy cross ventilation with the use of air conditioning.

“Rain water is collected on the flat roof tops and stored in a centralised tank to be recycled, this is traditional for these type of payesas farms.

“The new walls have been built using local limestone and using traditional methods. And the landscaped terraces have been planted with herbs and Olvos.”
