Sustainable design at Tropical House, Gujarat, India
Indian architects and interior designers Hiren Patel Architects have designed the Tropical House project. Completed in 2012, the luxury home can be found in Gujarat, India.
According to the architects: “This house stands out unique and very first of its kind in HPA’s folio. The luxury property can be found in a tropical climate and is minutes away from Ocean. Since both, client and we adore the tropical landscape we wanted to achieve the quality, which completes the surroundings, and vice versa. The very texture of client’s sustainable lifestyle has woven into the interior design and execution as well.
“A narrow paved passage beautifully covered by native plants leads to vestibule and open verandah. Open verandah faces green lawn and plantation on three sides. Vestibule connects family room and living room, while verandah is also an extension of formal living room. The central structure of house consists of formal living room and dining room, which opens to back verandah. A passage from formal living room running parallel to lily pool on one side and rooms & courtyard on other ends to children bedroom and master bedroom. A court has bee given between two rooms and this feature illumines the rooms and takes care of cross ventilation.
“Backside verandah connects to swimming pool and flower courts in the backside of the house. Attached toilets of Master bedroom and Children bedroom have their separate courts. The house consists of single floor and whole roof structure is made of wood.”
