Striking Santa Monica property, California

Los Angeles-based interior designers and architects Jamie Bush & Co have completed the Santa Monica project. Completed in 2001, the striking home can be found in Santa Monica, California, US.

The design concept of this luxury Santa Monica property is modern, warm, and open to nature.  The landscaping is an important focus, with a rock garden, koi pond with waterfall, dry Zen garden, and expansive front lawn. Inside, the negative space is equally important as the objects within it. The furnishings are Western with an Asian spirit, acting as a natural extension of the house.

The living room is brightly lit from an oculus in the ceiling and uses a color palette of pale tones. The coffee table is vintage Monteverdi-Young and the delicate legs on the modern sofa and armchairs produce a floating effect.

The kitchen features cherry cabinets, a raised slate floor, and vintage Arthur Umanoff bar stools. In the dining room, a smoked glass chandelier hangs over a walnut dining table and Scandinavian oak and teak dining chairs by Bruno Hansen and Hans Wegner.

The family room has dark colours, low modern sofas and suede cube ottomans. The master bedroom features cherry paneling, a Noguchi lamp, low bentwood Italian armchairs, and a sleek platform bed. Modern classics, such as M stools are used in both the interior and exterior of the luxury Californian house. A pair of steel lounge chairs and a matching travertine-top table sit on the main deck outside the living room while rattan and steel chairs overlook the koi pond.
