Luxury Resort The Residence Hotels, Maldives

Holidays to the Maldives conjure up images of sandy-white beaches lined by palm trees and lapping aqua marine waters. The Republic of Maldives as it’s officially known is a real paradise on Earth.

The Residence Hotels has launched its fourth property this autumn.  At the south end of the Maldivian landscape on Gaafu Alifu atoll, The Residence Maldives – a member of The Leading Hotels of the World – has 94 beautiful overwater and beach villas.

The opening of the new Kooddoo airport in September provided easier access to this unspoilt area of the Maldives that offers some of the world’s most spectacular diving.  The accommodation ranges from splendid beach villas with large verandas and direct ocean access, to grand over-water suites boasting superb sunbathing platforms, sun loungers and expansive living areas.  As with all of The Residence Hotels, the staff excels. Service is top-notch and each villa has its own butler on hand 24/7, brilliantly dispensing intuitive service and arranging any number of experiences; from watersports, fishing and island-hopping to world-class diving in any of the 23 nearby dive sites.  The luxury Maldives resort is also home to the only Clarins spa in the Maldives.

A real highlight of the luxury Maldives hotel is The Spa by Clarins.  Linked to the mainland by a pontoon. Chic yet traditional, with six overwater pavilions, a hair salon and a large, open-air deck space for meditation and yoga, guests can relax and embrace the spectacular views and sea breeze.  Signature treatments using active ingredients from plant origins include the ‘heaven’ top-to-toe massage for body and face; ‘pure’ – a nourishing scalp and shoulder treatment using warm virgin coconut oil and ‘reflexology’ an energising treatment which stimulates minute pressure points in the soles of the feet. The Spa also features a fully-equipped fitness centre, sauna and steam room.
