Luxury Rebak Island Resort, Langkawi has rebranded as Vivanta by Taj – Rebak Island, Langkawi.  The luxury resort is a privately owned 390 acres rainforest island that commands a magnificent view of the Senari Straits bordering the Andaman Sea with a pristine and secluded beach.

The Rebak Island, named after the native Rebak tree, is one of the 99 isles that make up legendary Langkawi. The island is blessed with a tropical climate, stunning rock formations and lush forests as old as a million years and is ensconced by crystal-clear waters, teeming with marine life that is perfect for a range of water sports and recreational activities. The hotel plays residence to the only fully-equipped marina in Malaysia. Set away from the mainland, the island enjoys an exclusive and tranquil ambience. It is located 4 kms away from the main island of Langkawi and 15 minutes boat ride from Port Langkasuka.

The newly appointed rooms have wooden flooring with contemporary interiors that retain the charm of a Malaysian dwelling. Set in clusters shaded by palm trees, most rooms enjoy clear views of the Senari Straits. The beautiful landscape gardens of the resort have a lush tropical forest in the background. Clumps of tamarind, coconut and local herbs enhance its rustic ambience.

The luxury Malaysian hotel offers nature trails or a Mangrove tour with a rainforest insider. You can take private Batik classes at the famed Atma Alam Batik Art Village, or set sail on a private yacht with jacuzzi cabanas in the company of sunsets and the Andaman sea. Foodies can explore the wet market with the chefs, buy exotic ingredients and head back to the kitchen to cook up some fun. Or simply pick a nook in the 390 acre island to enjoy a meal just for two.

Langkawi is synonymous with a ‘tropical paradise’ – and with good reason. Since 2008 the archipelago’s official title has been Langkawi Permata Kedah (Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah), no doubt inspired by the island’s clear waters, relatively pristine beaches and intact jungle. It’s the kind of tropical island where time stands still and takes you into a paradise where the inhabitants continue to go about their ways just as they have for generations.
