House BM, A Modern Design, Belgium
Architecten de Vylder Vinck Taillieu a Ghent-based design studio has completed project House BM. Completed in 2011, this single-storye property is located in Ghent, Belgium.
According to the archirects: “Structurally, the house consists of two concrete slabs, kept at a distance from each other by concrete plates that also dictate the internal division. A foundation on wells ensures that roots can go their own way freely underneath the house.
“Due the lengths spanned by the roof slab that greater on the outside than on the inside, a difference in slab thickness was used, with natural drainage towards the inside as a consequence.
The contemporary Belgian property has 18 glass windows. The windows both mark and cancel out the transition between outside and inside. One window is on top of another; the kink is emphasised by the thickness of the next window-frame.”
