St James, the design conscious developer with schemes in London and the South East of England, has begun building works at its latest scheme, Riverlight, located on the riverfront, on the Southbank regeneration area.
Featuring iconic architecture by Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners, Riverlight will be the first scheme to be delivered, acting as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of the area. Situated on the banks of the Thames, the emphasis of the development is on the lifestyle it affords, with each of the buildings designed to maximise sunlight within and optimise the views.
Comprising 806 residential units across six pavilions on five acres of land, the scheme will encompass a range of accommodation options from suites to three bedroom apartments and luxury penthouses, with all homes benefiting from private balconies.
The luxury buildings will range in height from 12 to 20 storeys with no more than seven apartments per floor, accessed by glass, walled elevators on the outside of each building in signature Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners style. More than 75 per cent of the development footprint will be dedicated to open space with a riverside walkway and park, private gardens and water features forming a key part of the scheme. A mix of retail and leisure facilities including an exclusive residents’ clubhouse and gym will be available as well as bars and restaurants which will offer al fresco spaces to relax in and enjoy. Initial occupations for the first phase of development are anticipated for 2014, while completion of the scheme will be in 2017.
