Escape to Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, Maldives this winter

January is probably the most miserable month of the year. Want to escape the January blues? Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, situated in an idyllic and secluded location at the southernmost tip of the Maldives, has unveiled the ‘island wellness retreat’ to help you escape the cold and dark mornings.

The resort is a pleasant 55-minute flight from the capital city of Malé, followed by a 20-minute speedboat ride (accompanied by a welcoming party of playful dolphins, if you’re lucky).

On arrival to this secret hideaway in the heart of the Indian Ocean, each guest will receive a relaxing foot-massage, a couple’s detox body wrap and body scrub.

Next you will then be introduced to the award-winning Talise Spa with a consultation to discuss treatments and a personalised programme with your therapists and butler. Each day also begins with a hearty but healthy breakfast in the restaurant that overlooks the stunning Indian Ocean.

Every one of the 38 villsa on the luxury private island boasts a pool and day bed, so you can soak up the sun and de-stress in private. Snorkelling equipment is provided free of charge so you can explore the vibrant underwater coral gardens famed for its abundance of fish and turtles. A short boat ride away from the main island lies a separate water village of ‘the ocean pearls’, 16 overwater villas perched on platforms overlooking the iridescent ocean, complete with own fine-dining restaurant and team of private butlers.
