Contemporary Tingo & Fenny Residence, Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo-based design studio Pons Arquitectos has designed the Tingo and Fenny Residence. Completed in 2003, this contemporary family property can be found in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
According to the architects: “The objective of this project was to develop two contemporary houses for two siblings, on a single 25, 824 sq. ft. lot, with common areas, but with abundant privacy and independence for each house. The project may be seen from different viewpoints thanks to the privilege position of the lot, which further offers excellent views that are advantageously used to frame the interior spaces of both houses. The extensive area layout develops within a pure array of volumes assembled into two large blocks.
“Three floors are housed in these volumes; however, only two are noticeable from the outside in order to maintain the residential scale. The floor plan is similar for properties contemporary Domican Republic houses. The underground level includes garages, guest rooms and one study room.
“Common areas to both homes include a gym, swimming pool and a large hall for social gatherings. The Second floor is where you can find the bedrooms. Marble, granite, brick and stone give colour and texture to the volumes of the contemporary Dominican Republic properties.”
