Contemporary Integrated Staircase & Cabinet
BUILD an industrious architecture company have just finished up a residential project in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighbourhood and it includes a stair design.
Stair design is said to be one of the most challenging aspects of architecture because of the bandwidth it requires. The building code regulates strict provisions over stair design, stairs are usually found where several materials integrate together, stairs can be geometrically complex, and are often the architectural highlight of a project.
The architects have said that attenuated steel and solid maple treads were used to create a focal point within the home. A walnut cabinet base integrates with the stair and becomes the guardrail for the downstairs run. Tough steel verticals above provide a harmonious backdrop to the living room.
