Brazilian artist Marcos Marin’s first UK solo exhibition

A new exhibition at a London gallery by Brazilian artist Marcos Marin explores the interaction between illusion, 60s Op art and Warholian fascination with celebrity culture.

His new UK exhibition at Gallery Elena Shchukina is his first solo exhibition and Marin injects a sense of movement into his subjects. Paintings, sculptures and screen prints of leading lights from the worlds of art, entertainment, politics and sport come together in a star-studded display adding a voyeuristic dimension to the viewer’s gaze.

And Gallery Elena Shchukina is attempting to create a dialogue between art and interiors beyond the traditional ‘white cube’ gallery space. Fine art and sculpture come together to create an inspirational environment providing a refreshing, beautiful, engaging and sensory experience of high arts, design and culture.

Media and cultural legends are brought to life alongside contemporary figures: David Beckham and Elton John are joined by plexiglass sculptures of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, all shining brightly in a red carpet-like event. Dubai’s Burj Al Arab building, London’s Big Ben and Rio de Janeiro’s Sugarloaf Mountain at the mouth of Guanabara Bay are amongst the iconic landmarks also on show.

The Monaco-based artist who was born in Sao Paulo has had his work exhibited around the world, Galerie Caplain Matignon in Paris, Patrice Breteau Gallery in Florida and Milan’s Visionnaire Gallery amongst others.

The Marcos Marin show will be held in the gallery’s second (new) space from 24 February – 28 March at 18 Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge, London, England, SW3 1NQ, galleryelenashchukina.com
