Luxury Contemporary Bathroom By MYA

This luxury bathroom was created by New York based architects MYA for clients in the East Hamptons, USA. The client, Rachel Lehmann and her husband, treat there home as a art installation, and is used to provoke a reaction for all that see and use it. The bathroom furniture was purchased separately, which allows each product to bring its own unique look to the bathroom. The center piece of the room is the Agape bath, which is a beautifully designed modern bath, with clean lines and an ergonomic shape that allows you to lay back and relax.

The finish may not be everyone’s taste, but the sole purpose of a home is somewhere where you feel relaxed and at ease, the clients have used various pieces to make a room in which they feel best represents there views and style, and we applaud them for doing so.

Contemporary Property Extension By LA Architects NMDA

Following on from yesterday`s theme, we received this contemporary extension, which was completed in 2007, for clients in Los Angles.  The architects for this project were NMDA, a design practice established in 1988, with offices in LA and New York. Read the architects process below:

The clients for this house renovation / extension, a couple with three daughters, are a creative, democratic unit. The father directs film trailers, the mother is a graphic designer and illustrator, while the high school / middle school / elementary school aged daughters are all immersed in their own versions of their parents visual cultures. The family have asked that 1,000 sf be added to the site in addition to the existing 1,000 sf house.

The scheme leaves half of the house for the daughter’s bedrooms and incorporates the other half plus new extensions in front and back into a public zone and a private bedroom for the parents. This strategy amounts to a new 16 ft wide linear house being inserted into the existing house. Multi-toned, bright colors accentuate the new pieces which suggests a graphic expression representative of the family’s interests.

Uccle by Belgium Architect Marc Corbiau

Marc Corbiau, a Belgium architect who graduated in June 1966 at l’Institut d’Architecture, Saint-Luc, Brussels, Belgium, designed this project. Although i really like the concrete structure, I personally would love to of seen this property in a clean white colour. Maybe that would be just too contemporary and similar to so many other properties out there?? But there`s just something about white buildings that I love!!

Multi-Family House In Üetlibergs, Zurich By AFGH

This multi-family house, by Swiss architects AFGH, lies at the foot of the Üetlibergs in Zurich. The architects created the property for four different families, with each wanting at least 3000m2 living space and views over the city below. This generated a complex problem in terms of space and the architects settled for  open plan living areas throughout. The structure consists of a timber frame, with galvanized steel supports, covered in a concrete finish.

South Coast Weekend Retreat

This south coast property featured on Channel five`s “I own Britain’s best home” and was designed by Hut Architecture, the owners have used a mix of old and new furniture to create a homely feel throughout. The architects description is below:

An existing 1950’s bungalow in a beautiful setting on the South Coast all but rebuilt to create a sustainable and modern family home. The entire building has been insulated and then lovingly enveloped in rough sawn Siberian larch. New double glazed doors, windows and skylights bring in daylight and views of the woodland. Simple materials such as rough timber, polished concrete and galvanized steel are used internally to create an unpretentious building that with time and use will acquire its own place within the family.

The Floating House By MOS

When we receive and search out articles for this blog, I am always struck by photographs of architecture at night, and these are some of the best I, and the rest of the Adelto team, have ever seen. The pictures were taken by Florian Holzherr and the property was designed by MOS.

The structure needed to be able to adapt to the constant water levels of Lake Huron and the house is based upon floats atop a structure of steel pontoons, which allow the house to rise and fall in line with the lake. We found this unique Canadian property via ArchDaily.
